Photoset

Two photos from my “fashion” folder downloaded to my old ThinkPad in January of 2005 (fall line). Fendi on left and Marni on right. Very different lines, but both would still be wearable today.

I’ve sewn and re-purposed clothes since junior high. At one point I was going to be a fashion designer… like a zillion other dreamers :) I still sew. I still recycle. I still mend.

An Explanation and A Plan

Back when I started this Tumblr blog, I uploaded all the old pictures I had downloaded to my old first laptop- an IBM ThinkPad. I used to save pics from all over the interwebs using dial-up connection… so the pictures and paintings I chose to download had to pass some arbitrary test weighing time it took to download and quality or significance of the pic. I shared all of them here after I got a better internet connection under the tags #thinkpad and #prairie girl awake because the pictures were a way for me to redecorate my psyche after a Jolting Awakening.

I’ve had varying degrees of crap internet connections that keep me from going online as much as I’d like. I’ve overcompensated on Twitter due to unlimited data plan on my smartphone. I have started new online projects that I have left fizz out (temporarily) because I couldn’t afford to go over my allotted data on my laptop… and nevermind all the the legit offline drama excuses that have kept me distracted.

But I now miraculously have Unlimited Data back on my laptop. My offline drama has subsided or retreated to the wings for the next scene. In The Meantime… THIS is my time to revisit the places I love - and Tumblr has been good to/for me.

So… along with the urban garden I’m obsessing over, biking, and my offline writing, I’ll be sharing from a crap ton of pics I took on my first digital camera… before and after my smartphones took over. I also have a backlog from my previous smartphones… before I lost 6 months of pics from my most recent ex-phone. (Selfies might be involved.)

And somewhere in there I’ll be working full-time at a library (but with a much shorter commute coming soon!!!!)

I’m sorry if your internet connection scenario (or money or Drama) keeps you from the things you love. I know what that’s like. It’s always a good reminder for us introverts to be go out and play with the real world - even if it means just taking pics of inanimate objects. I’ll be out there as well - though I may be much more likely to chat it up - and be semi-coherent about it - somewhere online.

"Still waters run deep" my teachers used to say when they read my Good Stuff. If you want to know what is going on in an introvert’s brain - give them a piece of paper, something to draw/write with, a keyboard - and the Internet.

P.S. I’m on Instagram @teandoranges… pictures from NOW.

Consumer Whore (1999) by Kieron Dwyer
I often forget to be polite in mixed company.  I’ve developed a wonderful habit of saying Starfucks instead of Starbucks without thinking twice.
Apparently this graphic is highly illegal - read up on it while the getting’s good!

Composition VII (1913) by Wassily Kandinsky
If you haven’t stood in front of a Kandinsky and had to refrain yourself from licking the canvas you still have time while there is breath in your body!  The Lenbachhaus Kunstbau/Museum in Munich is a good place to start.
Downloaded between 1st and 2nd trip to Germany of 3.

Embrace (1939) by Paul Klee
Backtracking - pictures that I missed - out of chronological order of original download - but who cares, other than my memory.  Love this one.  Downloaded under the influence of Edvard Munch’s The Kiss/Kyss and Klimt’s Kiss… but this is my favorite.

Cologne Cathedral (1945) by Lee Miller
While in Koln, I climbed up the spires of this Cathedral about 60 years after this picture was taken.  When you look up, while down below - do you see the forest canopy above?

Frederic Chopin (1838) by Eugene Delacroix
One of my favorite composers - if not my favorite.  His relationship with George Sand also fascinates me.  Do writers and musicians mix?
